Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill – Press Statement

On behalf of Be True 2 Me, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the National Assembly for passing the Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill. This is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and tolerant society in South Africa.

We would like to express our appreciation to the 237 Members of Parliament who voted in favour of the Bill. Your support sends a powerful message that hate crimes and hate speech have no place in our society and that everyone should be free to live without fear of discrimination or harm.

As the Bill moves to the NCOP, we remain hopeful that the comments and suggestions made during this process will further strengthen the Bill and ensure that it effectively addresses the scourge of hate crimes and hate speech in our country.

We urge all stakeholders to continue working together to ensure that the Bill becomes law as soon as possible, and we look forward to a future where all South Africans can live with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their identity.
